Crisis Deflection Center: A real solution to an old problem
We offer what street people really need.
Taking the homeless to jail doesn't work. We know that because jail has been our only solution for too long. With the help of QT convenience stores, Homeward Bound's Rapid Response teams are travelling all through Dallas, seven days a week, talking with the people you see begging on corners and in parking lots. They offer real help - a clean bed, a warm shower, a hot meal and treatment for substance use and mental health disorders. Often people on the street are waiting and ready for someone to offer a way into a better life. If they aren't, the Responders give them a card with a telephone number. They invite them to call. Last year the responders helped people on the street with more than 2,000 services. This year, they will do even more.
